Problems with OLE objects

In a .doc file, when you insert an OLE object, like a spreadsheet, as an icon, save it and then open it with writer, the embeded object appears completely, not just like an icon.

Hello, I followed the steps you mentioned. the principle which is not the reason but to insert the icon in the document and save it to open I peeked. but after more tests to make me not return any error, in fact to insert icons spreadsheets poke me as they are. I guess what you mean is to insert an OLE object, such as spreadsheet icon. if so I do not see what the problem is, as you mention do the same and if I produce the correct answer. but if it is not and I can explain the problem better hope I could provide more information. thanks I hope to help regards (In reply to comment #0) > En un archivo. I have replicated this bug to an extent on a Windows XP Pro, Version 2002, Service Pack 3 machine. I have also managed to get OpenOffice to crash for some reason when closing the program as well. I am using Microsoft Office Word 2007 and OpenOffice AOO400m2(Build:9701) - Rev. 1489073. I used the supplied sample from Inarv for my testing in both cases. For Microsoft Office the document opens fine and displays the Excel icons with the ability to open each. For OpenOffice, when I open the document it displays what appears to be a spreadsheet that I cannot find in the document when I open it in MS Word. This spreadsheet is copied and displayed at the beginning of every page. The interesting part is when I click on this spreadsheet box and delete it, the document changes back to what is displayed when I open it in MS Word. Then when I try to close OpenOffice it crashes and reopens. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open document with OpenOffice 2. Select first copied spreadsheet box 3. Press delete key 4. Press Close button(red X)

Windows 7,Open Office Writer AOO400m1, build 9700 - rev 1479897 and OOo-dev-Writer AOO350m1 (build 9611) -- rev 1400866. MS Word 2010. I get the same behavior in both versions. Opening the document with Word, I don't see what looks like the main spreadsheet. When I open the document with Writer (either one), I see a long spreadsheet at the start of the document. It appears on subsequent pages. When I click on the spreadsheet and hit the delete key: (a) the spreadsheet goes away (b) the resulting document looks like what I see in Word However, neither OOo crashes when I click the X at the top right to exit the program. Perhaps this crash is OS-dependent (I don't have an XP machine handy). Apparently the other behaviors are independent of the OS, the version of Word and (to some degree, at least) the version of OOo.
I am curious about the description. I don't have experience with inserting objects as icons, but according to bug 38867, this feature is not supported. Is this a duplicate of 38867 or not a bug or am I misunderstanding the reports?
