Description rsking84 2010-09-23 04:38:49 UTC
Using pageup/pagedown to navigate documents with large (half- or full-page)
charts, tables, or images is difficult. The pageup/pagedown navigation behavior
is based on the position of the cursor within the text. As such, using
pageup/pagedown in such documents can cause the view to skip over whole pages if
they do not contain text.

To reproduce in the test document:
Make sure your cursor is at the top
Press pagedown 3 times
Note that the view skips over the lower half of page 3 and the upper half of
page 4, because these pages do not contain text.

While navigation with the ARROW KEYS should certainly be based on the position
of the text cursor, I would suggest that navigation with pageup/pagedown be
based on the current VIEW rather than the location of the cursor. I believe
this method would provide more intuitive behavior for these keys.

Cannot reproduce what you describe.
Scrolling with PgDn/Up shows all the pages.
On the other hand, every word processcor / editor moves the cursor on PgDn/Up

Please detail and explain what happens with the charts.
Which operating system / version do you have?

I've tested this on two different machines running Windows 7 x64 and Ubuntu
10.04 x64, respectively, both with OO 3.2 (320m19)

The attached document has two pages that consist entirely of figures - p. 3 and
p. 4. In my testing, using pagedown to navigate the document causes the view to
skip over the lower half of page 3 / upper half of page 4.

If I open this document and want to find the 2nd or 3rd figure using pgdown, I
would never see them.

Let me know if you still can't reproduce and I'll try another document. I will
also test some other word processors to see how they handle such a scenario.

MRU->OS: I can confirm the problem. Just open the attached document and scroll
through it by using Pg dn key. When reaching the graphics/Charts on page 3 you
will notice that the view then jumps to page where the last object is.
It looks that it is essential that only one page is displayed; do not use the
book layout view.
