Description marcozehe 2013-07-25 14:28:19 UTC
Regression in 4.0 from the previous release: VoiceOver is no longer able to read what was entered into Writer.

STR:
1. Open an empty Writer document.
2. Turn on VoiceOver with Cmd+F5.
3. Type something.
4. Press Left Arrow to read what you just typed.

Expected: VoiceOver should read characters as you pass over them backwards.
Actual: Nothing is read.

5. Press Enter to insert a new paragraph.
6. Press Up Arrow.

Expected: VoiceOver should read the previous line.
Actual: Nothing is spoken.

I can confirm the behaviour (but I can0t set the status flag).

To compare open textedit end do the same thing.

Could someone please confirm that this is an regression compared to AOO 3.4.1?
If confirmed please add keyword regression.
Thx in advance.

I have no MacOS system at hand.

I can confirm it.
It is broken in other parts, not only while entering text.

I can confirm this issue in 4.1.3 as well as in 3.0.0 on macOS 10.12.3. This makes OpenOffice completely unusable with VoiceOver. However, as already commented, there are more accessibility issues, e.g. the app crashes when trying to navigate in OpenOffice Preferences so I am not able to configure anything there, and some pop-up buttons, such as those in the status bar can't be opened.
