Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 122879
RTF: Renders image encoding instead of image
Last modified: 2019-12-20 17:03:15 UTC
Created attachment 81185 [details] A rich text file (.rtf) containing only a small encoded image RTF text identifies encoding as {\pict\wmetafile8\picw1323\pich1323\picwgoal750\pichgoal750. Writer renders the encoding of image rather that the image itself, e.g. 010009000003421e00000000140f00000000140f000026060f001e1e574d4643010000000000010019440000000001000000fc1d000000000000fc1d0000010000006c00000000000000000000003100000031000000000000000 ... The test file, Test.rtf, is attached. This file was created by copying my Facebook home page and pasting it into MS Word and saving it as an .rtf file as part of my development of a fuzzing framework for OpenOffice applications as describe in "Testing with Hostile Data Streams" The original file was very large but has been pruned using MS Wordpad to what I believe is the minimum file that causes the problem. Perhaps there is unnecessary context in the .rtf file.
Please specify steps to reproduce.
Reproduction procedure: 1. Save test file, Test.rtf, in a convenient directory. 2. Open Test.rtf with MS Word or WordPad 3. Note the display of the image of an anser in flight. 4. Invoke OpenOffice Write (swrite.exe) version 4.0.0 (build 9702) 5. Left click "file" 6. Left click "open" 7. Select Test.rtf from the convenient directory specified in step 1. 8. Note the display of the file encoding start with "010009000003421e00000000140f00000" 9. This should display as the same image as shown in step 3.
