Summary/Description:

Lately, I can not open a PDF file and be able to read it. I haveremoved reader and redownloaded it and the the same with Open office. It still does not open properly. Can you help? Thank-you

Note that OpenOffice is not a PDF reader. If you just want to read the PDF, install and use a PDF reader, like Adobe Acrobat Reader.

If you want to open PDF files with OpenOffice in order to edit them, you have to install an extension.

The version for OpenOffice 4.* is http://extensions.openoffice.org/en/project/pdf-import-apache-openoffice

Note that the quality of the import is rather limited. It may not fulfill your expectations with some PDF files.
