Screenshot Showing I-beam on Green Document Backgroud Colour

I like to use OpenOffice with the document background colour set to a green colour. This raises a problem with the I-beam (cursor): the colour of the I-beam makes it difficult to see on a green background (this is also true if using other colours for the document background colour). I assume that this situation arises because giving the user the capability to change the document background colour the colour of the I-beam was never considered.

Please could someone give the user the capacity to set the colour of the I-beam so that the user can choose a colour that displays well with their choice of document background colour.

If this feature was developed I would say that my preference would be for the I-beam colour setting to be in the same place as the setting that allows the document background colour to be chosen. (If the I-beam colour was buried somewhere in Advanced Settings this would be of no use to people new to OpenOffice.)

So that you can be clear of what I'm speaking about when I refer to the "I-beam" I have made an attachment to this request.

I have marked this issue as "Major" because in some instances this inability to change the I-beam colour makes some document background colours impossible to use.

I made a long-ish post on this issue in the Apache OpenOffice forum. I would like to add the observations made in that post to my initial request that this aspect of OpenOffice is deserving of work being done on it. The post can be read here (poster LastUnicorn): https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=85631&p=399310#p399389

There is information there that points out that work needs done not just on the I-beam colour but also on other display colour elements of OpenOffice.

Maybe a dup of Issue 89463
Be able to set appearance of the cursor (color, size, etc)

@ooforum (fr):

I just read the issue you link to. No this isn't a duplicate of that issue. That issue was calling for the cursors to be resized - I'm not requesting this be done. The cursor sizes are actually okay and don't need resizing in any way. Really asking for user control over the colours of cursors etc. Please read the forum post I linked to and this should be clear from that post.

For me, this is redundant.
Changing appearance for size, thickness or color in one single dialogbox.

So, you can wait a response from dev team here or comment issue 89463 to reopen it.

Put that way it sounds better.
