Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 16562
buttons "paragraph background" & "background color" should behave differently
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:25:55 UTC
Situation: - when the cursor is positioned inside a table, two object bars are available - 'Table Object Bar' - 'Text Object Bar' - both bars contain a fill button (the right-most button) Expected behaviour: - when the 'Table Object Bar' is active, the cell background is changed - when the 'Text Object Bar' is active, the paragraph background is changed Actual (Buggy) Behaviour: - regardless of whether the 'Table Object Bar' or the 'Text Object Bar' the behaviour of the fill button is the same: - if the cursor is in a cell (cell not selected), the paragraph background is changed - if a cell is selected, the cell background is changed This also means that the fill button in the 'Text Object Bar' can not be used to change the paragraph background for more than one cell at a time.
confirming, adjusting priority, setting target-milestone (maybe OOo 1.1.1?) - changed subject (original summary: "Object Bar Button Behaviour for Cell Fill Broken") Text & Table Object bar both contain an icon for background color. Tooltip for Textbar-Icon. "Paragraph Background" Tooltip for Table-bar-Icon: "Background Color" (extended tooltip is the same for both buttons) Expected behaviour: Textbar-button should change Paragraph Background (as the tooltip says) no matter whow the text is selected. Tablebar-button should change the cells' background color - no matter how the cells are selected. Actual behaviour: Both buttons behave the same, depending on how the user selected the text. Whole cells marked: both change the cell-background Only text selected (works with selection spread along different cells using <ctrl>+mouse): Paragragh-background is changed. Solution: Remove "context-sensitive" behaviour, instead use the buttons as labled - one for paragragh background, one for cell-background. Maybe enhancement?
Reassigned to MRU
MRU->OS: We once talked about the distinction of the two buttons. Because of the high effort of this, we decided not to do this for OO 1.1. Thus you get this issue with target "Office later" at first.
