Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 49781
"Read Error" Displayed Between Over-lapped Cropped Images
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:20:08 UTC
I have been editing a document at work, he title page contains two images linked to bitmaps on disk. Both images are cropped. When I open the document I get a flickering box where the two images overlap eachother. The flickering box shows "read error". Im using WinXP SP2, m104, Verified on 2 differnt machines. I have re-created this issue at home. And included an example zip file which contains the document, two images and a screen capture of the error that im seeing. To re-create the error. 1. Unrar the attached file keeping the directory structure. 2. Under the \document\ directory open example.odt 3. When the document loads, you will see no flickering. 4. Use the mouse wheel or down arrow key (press twice) to scroll the document. 5. Observe the error. I have tried a few things and found that this issue only occurs when the over- lapped image is cropped. Check out example2.odt. The image that is overlapped ("image2") has not been cropped and this defect does not occur. Hope Ive given enough information.. Thanks..

MRU->OD: you will notice a flickering effect when scrolling through the attached document exactly in the place where the two graphics overlap. The "Read Error" string will be displayed there.
I am not able to replicated the bug on WinXP sp2, Pentium 3 with OOo2.0.1. But with an extra step in between step 3 and 4 given by the reporter, the bug will appear again. To re-create the error. 1. Unrar the attached file keeping the directory structure. 2. Under the \document\ directory open example.odt 3. When the document loads, you will see no flickering. 4. open File-> PagePreview 5. Use the mouse wheel or down arrow key (press twice) to scroll the document. 6. Observe that the both picture is in the "flickering effect" and the upper left corner of both picture display "Read Error"
