Description bersyl91 2005-07-20 08:22:38 UTC
The text widow of my text blinks slowly (about one flash per second) but
continuously.

This text is in sxw format and I used to edit it with the "raw" presentation
("inline formatting" or so, I guess, which seem to have been moved to "web
presentation" or so, I guess).

I'm currently translating a rather long text, which is then part french, part
english. Then about one half of the screen is filled with orthographically
incorrect words (orthographic correction is on). Perhaps this has something to
do with it.

It seems that the problem doesn't arise in the "standard" (now "printig" I
guess) presentation, but as I've tried to compare both, application just
freezed :-(

MRU->FME: I am not sure wether I am allowed to attach the document here or not.
You will get it via mail.
Open the document and switch to web layout -> view will blink a few times. Your
first gues was, that it may be a problem of the drawing layer.

I am getting the same blinking effect in OOo2 Writer.

But in my case, the difference is that this file was created by importing a
300-page MS Word (doc) file into Writer and then saving it as odt file.
Secondly, I see the blinking in Print view (not web view).

The file has the following characteristics:
1. Each page has a header and footer. Both are in the form of a single row,
3-column table.

2. The main text is inserted in a two-column table. the left column serves as
left margin, and the right column holds the main text.

3. I had inserted section breaks in the doc file for each chapter (each chapter
has a different header). But the converted odt file shows only one section and
different page style for each chapter.

4. In the beginning of each chapter, I have merged the first row of the 2-column
table and insrted the chapter title in "Heading 1" style. The lower level
headings are inserted in the right column of the table.

5. The original doc file used to crash. I discovered that MS Word on Windows NT4
SP-6 ctashes if a table spans over >2 pages. So I had split the table in such a
way that no row crosses a page boundary.

MRU, I have provided the private file that has this problem.

Kindly confirm this issue; and let us see more action on this one!

MRU, even the latest version of the file (which I have sent to you) has this
problem in version m169.

Is this also resolved in version 2.0.3?
