Description shinobu_maehara 2007-07-05 20:39:24 UTC
If you use the mousewheel to scroll while editing an OLE object, part of which
falls outside the left or right page edge, the object will appear torn in two.
While I understand the utility of the optimization that causes this, this
still needs to be solved.

Not able to confirm with a simple example. Please attach a document exhibiting
this problem.

Confirmed with 2.2.1 on Win XP. Does not depend on the mouse wheel, it occurs on
normal scrolling also. Anything beyond the page boundary (for the OLE object in
the attachment it's the ruler) does not scroll.

There is an easy workround - temporarily move the object before editing it -
however agree it should be fixed. Will set Issue Type to New shortly...
Comment 5 mike_hall 2007-07-09 08:41:43 UTC
A number of crashes when investigating this issue. There are also other
scrolling problems other than the one reported.
Comment 6 mike_hall 2007-07-09 10:18:18 UTC
Crashes are a different problem (not related to scrolling) and occur in 2.2.1
but not m218, therefore not continuing to investigate crashes
Comment 7 mike_hall 2007-07-09 11:58:48 UTC
- crashes were ref r8uuvc, rpvuvc, rymuvc and rcyuvc - suggest ignore these...
Comment 8 mike_hall 2007-07-09 12:10:44 UTC
Screen repaint problems occur when scrolling vertically in the OLE window and in
the complete document window. Additional example attached showing one object
truncated at bottom after scrolling down and another where the lower part of an
object appears after the object has been deleted. This behaviour is fairly
consistent in m218. Object are also not repainted correctly in m218 when an
object is resized. Occurs also to some extent in 2.2.1, but not as extreme. All
these screen repaint problems are resolved when a the window is repainted fully,
but it is easy to recreate the same behaviour. The document is not affected.
Additional screenshot to be attached.

Reported for OOo 2.1, but is even worse in m218. Have thus suggested it is
considered for correction in 2.3.

MRU->OS: when you insert e.g. a Draw OLE object into Writer, position it at
Writers left page border and scroll the container document when in inplace mode
-> the OLE frame including the vertical ruler will not be taken in mind when
scrolling.
