Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 84875
Wrong symbols for numerals in Hebrew text (Font "David")
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:17:55 UTC
In the attached (hopefully, as I don't see an "attach" button) document, created with MS Word in Hebrew, instead of the standard European symbols for Arabic numbers (1,2,3 etc) the completely different (i.e. unreadable) Arabic- Indic symbols appear. In additition to the document itself, I want to attach (but so far don't see how) two screen shots of its view in MS Word and in OOo Writer 2.4 (beta). Thanks, Vitaly.
Created attachment 50566 [details] A MS Word document with numerals distotred in Writer
Created attachment 50567 [details] View of the document in MS Word (numerals are OK)
Created attachment 50568 [details] View of the document in Writer 2.4 (numerals are unreadable)
Created attachment 50569 [details] View of the document in Writer 2.4 (w/ highlighted unreadable numbers)
MRU->HDU: please have a look, the numbers in the attached document are not shown correctly (as "rectangle symbol") in the font "David".
Someone sets the digit language incorrectly...
OD->HBRINKM: Please have a look, if it is a WW8 import filter problem, Thx.
The fix #i81577# TranslateToHindiNumbers should be language sensitive. Releasing OOo 2.4 with this bug makes it pretty impossible to import Hebrew doc files (as numbers are not such rare characters). In my opinion it would be better to remove TranslateToHindiNumbers until it is fixed.

Maybe this is related to issue 86811 or the other way around?
troodon -> 86811 exists only on 2.4.0 and not in 2.3.x. But the result described here is the same as 86811. (the bug is currently marked as bug in 2.3.1) As the attached screen shots are from 2.4, I'd say this is a duplicate for 86811. Although this bug was opened first, we have more info about the problem in 86811, so I suggest to mark this one as the duplicate.
