Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 88063
WW8/Calc: grouped draw objects lose position when exporting to MS Office format
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:38:26 UTC
Using Draw to construct some basic shapes. place & rotate. save in .odg OK. Copy shapes. Open new write file and paste the drawing. Save as .doc format, close it then reopen it and drawing is messed up. I have 2 example files and as soon as I can figure out how to attach them I will.
Created attachment 52661 [details] originally created shapes in .odg
Created attachment 52662 [details] writer created file as .doc with garbled drawing
Windows XP X64
I checked with "2.4.0 Multilingual version German UI WIN XP: [680m12(Build9286)]" and can confirm the reported effect. It looks even worse when you open test2.doc with MS WORDVIEWER, no graphic object visible at all. Similar problems if you try to create an EXCEL document with those DRAW objects from CALC. It seems that the problem only occurs for objects inserted as "Drawing format" (standard). DRAW8 format works better. Reduce priority to 3, because warning "This document might contain objects that ...". But I agree, the result is not acceptable. I am pretty sure that I already have seen a report concerning this problem, but currently I can't find that issue.
Created attachment 52684 [details] odt after group has been pasted from Draw
MRU->SJ: when exporting the object group in the attached odt, all the objects get an additional "border object" added.
Is this realted to issue 59051? http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=59051 Only that it is more severe than that issue (more things now broken, not just the arrows)?
Workaround: Copy objects and paste into Windows Paint. Then select objects in Paint and paste into writer.
Use draw tools in Write, place some objects & group them together. Save as .doc. Close file and reopen. Objects have moved.
sj: I try to sum up the problem we have. If I read the first issue description it is all about grouped drawing objects that are not stored correctly to the "DOC" format, they lose their position. Reading further on this should also be the fact when storing these objects to Excel. And yes, I can confirm this, Calc & Writer are sharing the same export code. I change the title.
