Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 90287
Malayalam rendering is wrong
Last modified: 2013-01-29 21:52:28 UTC
1. When bold is not enabled the text is not visible in the screen. Nothing comes in screen while typing. When the blank lines are selected and applied "bold" the text becomes visible. 2. nta (ന്റ) rendering is borken in new version. 3. samvruthokram patch is not seen in the new version[1]. See the last word in the first line(കുത്തു്) [1] http://bugs.icu-project.org/trac/ticket/6108
Attaching the screenshots with Lohit(Typewriter/reformed script font). Meera, and Rachana font. Screenshots shows the side by side comparison of 2.4 version and Oo-Dev 3.0 version. a) Black text means it is unaffected b) Green means Correct rendering c) Red means incorrect rendering d) While using Rachana font in Oo-Dev 3.0, even if the text is bold, nothing is visible to user as shown in screenshot.

I can confirm bugs 1, 2 and 3. I have a new observation to make, samvruthokaram is rendered correctly with suruma font.
Fonts for testing can be downloaded from http://download.savannah.gnu.org/releases/smc/fonts/malayalam-fonts-04/
