Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 99148
MS OFFICE brackets and hebrew dose not show well
Last modified: 2013-01-29 21:48:34 UTC
I'm using OOO300m15 Build:9379 under Ubuntu 8.04 and as you can see in the flowing link that the big brackets dose not show well as well as the Hebrew. the original document was created in MS OFFICE (i don't know the exact version). http://www.pixhost.org/show/106/140809_screenshot-2-0_102-doc-openoffice-org-writer.jpg i can upload the file if its necessary. good day
The bracket problem is already tracked as issue 76587. Could you please upload the document (use the "Create a new attachment" link) so that we can reproduce the problem regarding the Hebrew glyphs. Thanks for supporting us!
Created attachment 60126 [details] few of the mathtype objects
I uploaded a file with objects from different documents. all with the same problem. hope that it can help. good day.
MRU->TL: on a system, where no Mathtype is installed (such as every Linux ;-) ) when double clicking such an object, the upcoming OO Math window won't take the correct font for displaying the Hebrew glyphs.
About Editing the formula: The broken display of the characters does not depend upon MathType being available or not. On my English Windows 2003 Server there is MathType 3.1 installed as part of MS Office as well, and I can't see the text properly either. Debugging into this with HDU and testing what happens if one enters Hebrew characters in MathType the result is that this is a problem of MathType since it simply ignores one byte of the Hebrew unicode character. However the problem might not exist if the OS has an old non-unicode Hebrew font installed and that one gets used within MathType for those text parts. This remains to be tested by the user. But as said it is a problem of MathType 3.1 and not of OOo. Thus we can't do anything about that one. =================================== About viewing the formula without editing it: TL->SJ: Can you please check if the problem of the seemingly corrupted looking preview image is on our side (i.e. if it is a problem that can be fixed in OOo 3.2) or if it was a bug of the application (maybe an older OOo?) that wrote that preview image? Please take over. Thanks!
